About the Clinic
We are a Health Canada Designated Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre. This means we can provide all vaccinations and prescriptions that are recommended for your trip.
Any person, couple, family or group travelling to anywhere in the world for either work or pleasure can benefit from travel medicine vaccinations.
The Healthy Traveller Pharmacist can reduce the risk of illness abroad by recommending the appropriate vaccines, medications and other safe practices such as food & water safety or disease-carrying mosquito protection.
It doesn’t matter if you are going to the Caribbean or along the Nile River in Africa, there are risks that we can help reduce. We want you to come home with great memories of your travel, not malaria or typhoid fever.
You will find our travel clinics within our group of Associated Maritime Pharmacies Guardian locations. We are specialized pharmacists that work in these Guardian locations and The Healthy Traveller clinic. Please vist www.ampltd.ca for more info.

Pre-Travel Consultation Form
Pre-Travel Consultation
After completing your Pre-Travel Consultation form for our Travel Medicine Pharmacist, they will research your destination(s) for the most up-to-date recommendations. They will assess your relevant medical history, vaccination history and current situation and make decisions that will help you to have a safe and healthy trip.
At the consultation, we will discuss your specific itinerary and explain the reasoning behind the recommendations given. Depending on the risks of disease in certain areas we have multiple options:
-
Vaccination
-
Medications that can be taken prior or during travel for prevention
-
Personal Protection Measures (PPMs) for example mosquito netting infused with permethrin
You will receive a detailed report which also includes important information about local hospitals should you find yourself in an emergency situation, and contact information for the Canadian Embassy.
The consultation includes a written prescription for any vaccines and medications that are recommended to prevent travel related illness.
Any vaccinations prescribed can be initiated immediately as our pharmacists are licensed to administer (additional fees apply). It is recommended that you contact us 6 to 8 weeks before you travel, however, we can still help you if your travel date is sooner as some vaccines have accelerated schedules available. Many vaccines require several weeks for a full response and adequate protection. Vaccination records will be given to you and notification will be faxed to your physician for your patient file.
The pharmacist can help you choose any over the counter products recommended for healthy travel. This may include insect repellant, sunscreen, antinauseants, antidiarrheals, etc.
